The Department of Foreign Languages (Faculty of Economics) supervised by Professor Elena N. Malyuga organised and held the International research and practical conference The English Language of Business Communication in the CIS States. The conference was attended by over 250 researchers and educators coming from Russia and 45 former CIS states, as well as Lithuania, Azerbaijan, and Moldova. The event also welcomed scholars visiting from the UK, Ireland, and the USA. The Department of Foreign Languages held the II International research and practical conference Topical Issues of Linguistics and Teaching Methods in Business and Professional Communication. The conference was attended by over 350 participants and guests coming from 54 Russian cities, 9 post-Soviet states and 7 non-CIS countries. The total number of papers presented amounted to 156 reports. The round table discussion supervised by Professor Malyuga aroused genuine interest on the part of researchers and educators representing Russian universities, as well as experts working for various companies, including Asset Capital Partners, Philipp Morris, Price Waterhouse Coopers, Wimm-Bill-Dann, Tupolev, Magnat Recruiting Agency, Janssen Cilag, etc. These specialists helped identify the practical aspects of the foreign language of professional communication and clarify employers’ requirements to be met by university graduates.
